Dramas
have been included in different ways through the different subjects in schools
as a source to develop personal skills and qualities by the usage of teamwork,
creativity, leadership, risk – taking, imagination, and so forth. Undoubtedly,
drama provides and stimulates a rush of imagination among students as well as
it makes students explore issues and experiences in a safe and supportive
environment. As a result, it is vital to create an atmosphere of security,
trust and concentration because dramas promote self – esteem and achievements
regardless academic purposes.

Drama
can be incorporated in the English class by doing activities in which
students can easily understand the topic we want to teach and also it
helps to motivate our students to think analytically and also to create a
good environment in the classroom because when students are motivated
to do something and they enjoy what they do they learn in a better way.
So, drama may be incorporated in the English class by giving them
topics in which they can use their imagination.
Drama can be incorporated in order to make participate those students who almost never participate in class and this is a good way to motivate them to participate and to encourage their learning.

As drama is a very nice way to teach English, it can be incorporated in different ways in the class. Using drama ensures that all students participate on the tasks and that makes them feel comfortable while working as a group or class.
It provides students the opportunity to use and improve their communication skills both vocally and physically. More than that is that students are encouraged either to listen to a story or read it, analyze it, desconstruct it, and finally reconstruct it using their opinions and ideas how it should be played out.
Moreover, it allows students share ideas with their partners, use the language as a discussion, brainstorming, and communication tool.

Some ways are:
1. Dramatizing through songs which consists on having students know some songs and try to drama the message of them in a very creative way to make it understandable and get students to express their feelings and emotions. This can be helpful to get shy students participate and begin getting along with the rest of the class.

2. Mimic
is a good way to make students think. This helps when studying contents
that need physical movements for students to understand more easily and
having fun. It is also fine to show students that learning English is
not that difficult as they think sometimes.

6. Tableau is an excellent method for students to demonstrate their understanding of the story since they use their bodies to create statues based on a specific moment of action from it.
BEFORE GIVING SOME EXTRA IDEAS
![Picture](/uploads/9/1/3/3/9133862/1667567.gif)
_
Before
giving some ideas, it is important, as teachers, to show students how to use a
variety of dramatic conventions to explore their own ideas, issues, creativity
and originality. Besides, before using dramas, teachers should convey
students an appropriate atmosphere, characterizations, and original performance
through dialogues, movement, pace, scripts, and so on. In addition, since
teachers know that the key skill in dramas lay upon communication and working
with other students, teachers should make aware students that this activity can
help them to put in practice organization, teamwork, responsibility, and
socialization among them.
OUR IDEAS
![Picture](/uploads/9/1/3/3/9133862/2580052.jpg)
_
Role – plays
It seems that role – plays are commonly known for students and teachers; however, few teachers and students make a WELL use of this source. For instance, it is difficult for students to make a characterization when they do not have any material or disguise to use, or when they have few time to improvise what they have been asked.

STORY TELLING
![Picture](/uploads/9/1/3/3/9133862/9559602.gif)
_
This means that students will have some time to
create their own drama based on:
- Famous book story
- Favorite movie
- Autobiography or someone’s story
- TV program or Radio program
As a tip, teachers can ask students to make usage of music, sounds, animations, or a different scenario.
Remember that the objectives of using dramas must provide students:
- Self – confidence.
- Critical thinking in solving human and practical problems of real world.
- Develop and take part regarding improvisation.
- Develop or increase their creativity and originality in different situations.
- Make them aware of the different techniques (mime, movement, costume, make – up, props, and set – design, etc.) and dramatic conventions (light, dark, movement, pause, sound, silence, etc.)
- Appreciate drama in performance, in both as participants and as spectators.
- Understand the educational, cultural and social purposes of drama.
- Develop a variety of new vocabulary and fluency of the language.
- Learn to respect and where appropriate, depend on, others (e.g. trust skills)
- Develop awareness (sensitivity) and enjoyment of the ways groups work (e.g. decision-making, problem solving, negotiation), willingness to accept responsibility, a democratic approach.

PUPPETS
![Picture](/uploads/9/1/3/3/9133862/8033998.jpg)
_
Even though puppets seem
to be a never ending tool, puppets are barely seldom use in English classes. It
is agreeable to say that the usage of puppets have a lot of disadvantages
(students read their dialogues, most of puppets usages are made up for children
only), but this is the perfect way to know how much students deal with
improvisation, creativity, characterization, and enjoyment.
I took advantage of this nice tool in my teaching practice, so I made my students actively participate in a series of dramas, role – plays, funny dialogues, and improvisations as their last evaluation.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS!!!

_ We really recommend this tool for ESL/EFL teacher
because this provides:
- A different atmosphere out of books, regular classes, and the same answer – and – question method in the class.
- Teachers a different way to assess students learning and internalization of the language.
- Students and teachers know their own skills, strengths, and challenges towards the English language.
- And, of course, students have a lot of fun and stress out in the class – a different way of relaxing out of exams, quizzes, tests, oral interviews, and so forth.
